1 September 1892 • Thursday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I took Alice down to the train on her way to Farmington to arrange for Estella to go to School there to the Stake Academy. Returned and did the chores and lay down most of the day sick Ankle no better.

2 September 1892 • Friday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I went to Grantsville to examine papers of Teachers Examination. Put up team and took dinner at Prest. Andersons. Returned in afternoon and called at depot and got Alice on her way from Farmington. Attended Trustees meeting in the evening. [p. 57]

3 September 1892 • Saturday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I chored about the place towards evening I went for a ride, took Alice. Attended School Trustee’s meeting in evening.

4 September 1892 • Sunday

Tooele Weather as usual. I took Prest. Gowans in buggy to Batesville where we attended School and meeting and we spoke in both. Took dinner with James Wood. At meeting we set apart the officers for Relief & Primary Associations. In the meeting evening I met with Prest. Gowans and Ward Bishoprick to consider the matter of the building of a dance hall by the members of the Brass Band. A committee was named to meet with a committee from the band and I was one of the committee.

5 September 1892 • Monday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I used the Kelsey water all day In the afternoon Alice & I went to Garfield expecting to meet some of our Farmington friends it being Labor Day Took a ride on steam boat.

6 September 1892 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I used Kelsey water. Got team in [p. 58] from South East field and plowed head ditch through apple orchard. Watered trees on East boundry line. <Rep. meeting in evening.>1

7 September 1892 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather Same I used Kelsey water all day. &c.

8 September 1892 • Thursday

Tooele Weather pleasant I used Kelsey water and repaired fence Called at Store in evening late where we talked over some school matters. About 100 head of horses were fed in our yards over night proceeds 5.50

9 September 1892 • Friday

Tooele Weather Same

I used Kelsey water. sold and loaded hay to Frank Barber did some business at Court House &c Attended School Trustees meeting in evening. Our School Building basement progressing. Folks all well Sent Bro Stephen $100.00 to use in completing his course in medicine to be returned at his convenience. Attended a Trustee’s meeting in the evening.

10 September 1892 • Saturday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I used kelsey water, helped plow on sand bank clearing off for sand hauling for School house. Attended a County Rep. [p. 59] Convention at Court House where I with others was elected a Delegate to the Territorial Convention to be held at Salt Lake City on the 15th inst. for the purpose of Nominating a candidate as Representative to Congress &c.

I was also elected a member of the County Central Committee one being elected from each precinct.

Spent the evening at home writing reading &c.

Went out in the evening with team and buggy to see Jos. Henson & Geo. Rimington and pay them some money. Took Alice along and had a pleasant ride.

11 September 1892 • Sunday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I used the Kelsey water, Attended Sunday School, reconfirmed Joseph Lee and assisted in confirming Miss Emma J. Smith.

Set apart John K. Orme as teacher in the school assisted in setting apart Thomas Martin to the office of Teacher in School. Took buggy and went to Grantsville to attend Y.M.M.I. Ass. Con. Took Estella & Jessie Dunn along. Attended a funeral of Father Conrad after the Con. Meeting in the afternoon and after that a council meeting. Arrived home at 7:30 P.M. [p. 60]

12 September 1892 • Monday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I used the Kelsey water until 11 A.M. Measured our hay stacks and sent measurements to Salt Lake to A. F. Doremus.

Hitched up team, and Alice accompanying me I went and saw several parties about baling hay. Engaged Nils Johnson for one <da[y]>.

13 September 1892 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I moved the hay press into place and baled hay all day.

14 September 1892 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather pleasant

In fore noon I went and saw Thos. Horeman about baling hay. Traded him three head of calves for $32.50 in labor. He got Edwd. Green to help him bale while I went to Salt Lake & was gone until Friday evening. I took the Regular 2 P.M. train and with other Delegates to the Ter. Rep. Convention proceeded to Salt Lake City. In the City I took Nerva to the Doctor’s and sent Alice Nerva and the three little girls down to Stephens in Sugar ward while I got shingled shaved and went down to Rep. Head quarters and talked with Calvin Reasoner & Wm. Sowers about Nominations likely to be made for Delegate to Conference. I then went down to Dr Stephens where [p. 61] I staid all night. This day Amelia Weiler, once my spark, was married at Logan Des. News Report.

15 September 1892 • Thursday

Salt Lake City Weather pleasant.

I went up town after breakfast, met with the Tooele Co. Delegation at the Continental hotel at 10:30 A.M. and attended the Ter. Convention in the Theatre at 12 M. Met the Committee on credentials at the Wasatch at 2:20 P.M. continued in session until 4 P.M. when we met in Convention Capacity until 6 P.M. Went down to Stephens in Sugar ward and got the children and took them via. of Rapid Transit to Sarah’s and then met in Convention at 8 P.M. Continued in session until nearly 12 Midnight when an adjournment was taken to 10 A.M. Next day. I walked down to Sarahs and staid all night.

16 September 1892 • Friday

Salt Lake City Weather pleasant but dry & dusty. (At Sarah’s)

I called on Abram and took breakfast with him. Attended the Convention at 10 A.M. where we succeeded in placing Frank J. Cannon in Nomination as Representative to Congress. attended to other necessary business & adjourned [p. 62]

Alice went up to Farmington and got measured for a dress and returned and we came home on cars to Garfield & from there by Peter A Droubay’s team.

After the Convention & before returning home I took P. A Droubay with me and called on A. F. Doremus City Engineer at City Hall who showed us through the various departments of the City Hall which was to us highly interesting. Arrived home dusty at dark Estella’s 16th birth day and she had a sociable party in the evening.

17 September 1892 • Saturday

Tooele Weather dry.

I baled hay in forenoon and in the afternoon hauled hay into hay house. Thos. Horman assisted me. In the evening I shaved, bathed, wrote up my journal Sept. 14th.

18 September 1892 • Sunday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I attended School and Meeting, set apart Moroni England as teacher in Sunday school. Prests. Gowans & Anderson were at E.T.

Met with Bishoprick & committee on amusements & entertainments at Vestry in the evening.

19 September 1892 • Monday

Tooele Weather continues same. I baled hay all day. Took the Kelsey water at 5:15 P.M. piled up hay in hay house.

20 September 1892 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather dry.

I did some work on my Main St. lots & used the water there as well as to use the Kelsey water here and oversee the baling by Mercer & Horman.

Met the committee on amusements at the vestry in the evening.

Tooele Weather pleasant. I baled hay until 5 P.M. T. Horman assisted, I also looked after the water, shaved & bathed in the evening and attended the organization of the YLMI Association where Christena Speirs was chosen prest. Spoke to the Young Ladies for a short time

22 September 1892 • Thursday

Tooele Weather pleasant. Attended to the irrigating and worked at baling hay.

23 September 1892 • Friday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I irrigated, helped with the baling of hay and got the horses out of East field. Attended Wonderland in evening

24 September 1892 • Saturday

Tooele Weather pleasant. I loaded a car with hay and piled up in hayhouse twenty bales hay. Attended School Trustee’s meeting in the evening.

25 September 1892 • Sunday

Tooele Weather pleasant.

I attended school & Meeting here offered the benediction. Set apart Miss Christena Speirs as Prest. of the YLMI Association. Spent the evening at home. Used Kelsey water

All well. Miss Alice Clark came yesterday [p. 65] to teach school and is staying with us.

Tooele Weather pleasant but warm. I used the Kelsey water, had Remington cutting lucern commenced on 3d crop. I attended the funeral of F. D. Horman’s babe & spoke at the services. Attended a committee meeting in the evening on amusements &c. for the Ward in connection with eleven others including the Presidency of the Y.L.M.I Association I was there elected Chairman of the Com.

274 September 1892 • Tuesday

Tooele Weather warm I ground mower knife, did chores, went to the Depot and met the three corpses Apostle Lyman’s wife Clara & her child and Mr Campbell’s Son. Used water on my lots opposite McKendricks.

Attended to some school business &c. All our folks are well.

285 September 1892 • Wednesday

Tooele Weather pleasant. <Shower at 3 P.M.>6 I ground mower knife, went to Depot & brought up Apostle H. J. Grant to attend the funeral of Sister Clara Lyman & son.

Helped with preparations and attended the Services & funeral in the afternoon. Offered [p. 66] the benediction at the services. Jos. F. occupied most of the time.

297 September 1892 • Thursday

Tooele Weather pleasant with a light shower about 3 P.M. Commenced hauling hay with one team at noon. I raked and put up ready for hauling. Worked on Sep. Report.

30 September8 1892 • Friday

Tooele Weather pleasant in forenoon. Rained hard & hailed about one o’clock.

Hauled hay in forenoon with one team. In afternoon I worked on Ranch report. In the evening I bathed, shaved, attended a water Co. Board meeting & went to the Rep. dance. My wife Alice & Alice Clark accompanied me. Thundered, lightened & rained hard.
