Salt Lake City Thirteenth Ward Relief Society; Bathsheba W. Smith Residence, Salt Lake City, Utah Territory
[. . .] Sister E. R. Snow. said it did her much good to meet with us, had an important subject to talk about, which was that of Home Industries We have been urged to make a commencement and are called upon to open a store, by the request of Prest. [Brigham] Young. Her motive for referring to this move, was to take into consideration, what would be required Thought it a ponderous undertaking, but would be calculated to stir us up to diligence and duty. Prest. Young thinks the Sisters are quite capable of keeping Store, he says how are we to become Queens unless we are able to conduct business.—
Sister Zina D. [H.] Young [. . .] Spoke of the different branches of business we might go into. The time must come when Babylon would fall, therefore it was desirable that we should learn to sustain ourselves by our Industries
Sister Snow announced a meeting to be held in the Council House on Wednesday Oct 4th at 2.PM for all the Officers of Relief Societies. [. . .] Dismissed by Sister E. R Snow.— [. . .] [p. 266]
