Sister E R Snow Smith then addressed the meeting said so many being present proved their interest in the duties of the R. S. [Relief Society] especially this being such a busy season of the year. She spoke of Motherhood of its broad duties of the need we all have to cultivate energy of character to cultivate purity virtue and every good gift and grace that the spirit of God may shine thro’ our faces and embelish our lives. Mothers need change they should sometimes go from home to get material and strength [p. 4] to fill their great mission. We must all cultivate social feelings be cheerful kind and self-denying Records other than those we keep are being kept every thought word and act is noted and we shall be judged by them spoke of our duties to the sick and poor also of our priviledge to save souls. Exhorted the sisters to visit one another. She said the enemies of Zion are Gods tools. He will use them to forward His purposes and with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm He will redeem Zion.

[. . .] Sister E R. Snow spoke on the following subjects. Are we in earnest do we set ourselves to obtain knowledge and having obtained it do we strive with a will to bring our lives into subjection to the requirements God makes of us. We must look within overcome our weaknesses speak no Ill and pity those who do. Let us Live “Nearer my God to Thee” and this will strengthen us for [p. 5] the conflict. We must Love our Sisters as ourselves and do unto them as we would have them do unto us I wish to make a few remarks in regard to the R. S. The Prophet Joseph Smith said if we would cultivate humility and Listen to the whisperings of the spirit we should have wisdom given us to judge righteous judgement among and between our Sisters any having a dispute should take it to the sisters it to the Teachers if they cannot satisfactorily settle it then take it to the President and even to the Stake President before troubling the bretheren. The R S is at the head of all Women kind upon the earth. The Young Ladies and Primaries are seperate organizations none are dependent upon the other. Now I wish to speak about the Hospital. I accepted with great reluctance the position I hold in regard to it it seemed to me like having to carry a big Elephant and it does yet. Seymore Young is President subject to the Board. We have to pay $60.00 per month and to furnish Bedding Fuel &c I should like all the sisters to become subscribers to this great undertaking. And how praying our Father in heaven to help you with His holy spir[i]t in all its rich gifts and blessings I say Amen.
