Weber Stake Primary; Ogden Tabernacle, Ogden, Utah Territory
The visitors from Salt Lake City were; Pres. Jos. [Joseph] F. Smith, Sister Elizah R. Snow and Dr. Ellen B. Ferguson. [. . .]
Sister Jane S. Richards then adressed the children and reminded them of their desire six months ago, that Sr Elizah R. Snow, who organized them, and Pres. Joseph F. Smith (and) should visit them, and now they with others were here, and she hoped they would pay the best of attention to what would be said to them and sit very still. [p. 23]
Sister Elizah R. Snow then said she was very pleased to meet with the children and see their pleasant, happy faces. Told them about the services at Kirtland, when Father Smith [Joseph Smith Sr.] the Grandfather of Pres. Jos. F. Smith was there and they had four services every day. The sick and lame came to the Temple to be healed and would throw away their crutches and go home whole One day Father Smith prayed for a manifestation of the spirit as they had on the day of Pentecost, and his prayer was answered and the Temple was filled with the Spirit of God, and a sound as of rushing winds and roaring flames was heard. Asked the children several questions which were promptly answered. Hoped they all had Hymn Books. There had been between 10,000 <and> 11,000 sold. Eight Hundred of these have been sold in Weber County. In Morgan Stake Conference the children have the Sunday eggs and with the proceeds will emigrate an Orphan child from England.
President Joseph F. Smith then spoke and expressed his pleasure at meeting with the children in their Conference and the satisfaction he felt in listening to the exercises and speeches. Spoke of the blessing that “Aunt Elizah” had been to the children of Zion by employing her talents in writing for the Children and others and in organizing these Primary Associations. [. . .] [p. 24]
