Counsellor Miss E. R Snow

We have an important subject to present to you. Every sister that is virtuous in this church should be initiated in to the as members in the relief Relief Society. President [Brigham] Young has requested me to tell the sisters to establish home industry; he has great faith in the Relief Societies We should be willing to assist in building up the kingdom of God. She then read an original article on home industry. She then said Mrs [Elvira S.] Barney had some thing to present to the meeting

Mrs E. Barney

[. . .] She then read several paragraphs from the Book of Doctrine and Covenants. After which she read two circulars realetive [relative] to home industry. She then had brought several specimans of straw hats. She made several interesting remarks.

Coun. Miss E R Snow

I heard Joseph Smith say that the people would come up <to Zion> from all parts of the world to buy their wearing apparel, as the fabrics that were made in Zion would be finer than those made any place else where.

We should at once commence if we would have the words of the Prophet fulfilled; and not wait for months or years and it will make us independent [n.p.]

Pres. Mrs M. I. [Mary Isabella Hales] Horne

I feel as Sister Snow, that now is the time to begin and obey the instructions of President Brigham Young and be a self-sustaining people. [. . .]

Miss E. R. Snow

If any sister knows of a brother that is acquainted with taking of <mulberry> cuttings, President Young says those who want cuttings can have them. We want the branch of silk culture commenced immediately many had failed in trying to raise silk worms on account of having too many together
