Coun. Mrs. E. R. Snow,

Felt the necessity of mingling our voices in faith, for the purpose of enlightning one another. We Professed to be the most enlighened women on the face of the earth, and to be those, who shall assist in building up the kingdom of God. It would have been better for our young ladies to have been born in the world, and do as they [n.p.] do, than to be born in Zion, and build up Babylon. We expect opposition from the world, and are prepared for it; for Satan hates the things, of God. We must each act and stand for ourselves, if we wish to attain to a fulness in the kingdom of God. I am pleased with the spirit of our meeting, and would like to know the feelings of my sisters about changing the name of our association, I am satisfied with the present name and wish them to be. We dont propose to hold ourselves responsible for what is done in S. L. City as far as dress and fashion is concerned. The Lord through Pres. [Brigham] Young commanded retrenchment. People did not realize what we were rerrenching [retrenching] from ignorance and from the spirit of the world, as well as its fashions. It is far better for us to humble ourselves fegore [before] the Lord, than for Him to humble us by His judgements. Zion must be prepared for the coming of the Son of man, then let our hearts be absorbed in the welfare of Zion and in promoting the improvement of all.

Sister Snow, said,

That Sister [Elizabeth Ann] Whitney would sing a psalm in the pure language if we would give her our faith and prayers, whereupon, Sister Whitney rose to her feet and sang a psalm of blessings, on the heads of the sisters.
