29 September: Reactions of wife Elizabeth to Cannon’s marrying another wife
1 October: Efforts to make peace with American Indians
16 November: Brigham Young “showed how contemptibly Congress had acted towards us.”
25 November: “Very little attention paid to” soldiers marching through the city
7–8 December: Elizabeth’s labor pains and delivery of a daughter
15 December: Cannon’s father-in-law, Abraham Hoagland, blessed baby Elizabeth Hoagland Cannon, and then Cannon later blessed the baby.

7 July 1865 • Friday¹

Friday, July 7th/65. Myself and wife, Elizabeth started from the City this morning for Provo. We did not start for half an hour after Bro Brigham Young and did not come up with him and company until we reached Lehi where we took dinner together in the School House. After dinner we started for Provo; it threatened with rain all the time. In coming across the point of the mountain to Lehi we had a very heavy shower. We stopped at Bishop Miller’s at Provo City.

8–9 July 1865 • Saturday and Sunday

Saturday & Sunday, July 8th & 9th Held meetings in the Bowery; a good attendance of the Saints and excellent attention was paid by all the people. After eating in the evening of Sunday we started to Springville. We put up while there at Bishop Aaron Johnson’s.
