August 1864

1 August 1864 • Monday

On Monday, the 3rd 1st of August, I spent a considerable portion of time in conversing upon doctrine with President Wells & Bro. Pratt. In the evening we had a tea party at the Odd Fellow’s Hall, which passed off very well – the Choir and individuals singing beautifully and others giving recitations. I made some remarks. The remainder of this week was spent as <was> the last. My Aunt Eleanor left the Office to prepare for her new place, and as Bro. Brigham, Jr., had sent his wife to London until he could get the house fixed up comfortably for her, he and I boarded & lodged at Sister Spencer’s. Bro. & Sister Wells stopped at the Office. The latter Bro. Wells was considerably occupied in preparing his residence with furniture, carpets &c that he might be able to soon get settled. He had taken a small house in West Derby Road – No. 9 Dunkeld St. Bro. Brigham was busy also fixing up the the rooms of upstairs of the Office, which he fitted up <in a> very fine manner. On Sunday, August 9th/64. we all went to London and held Conference at the Store St. Music Hall and had an excellent time. We all spoke. We took dinner at Bro. Ferguson’s and tea at Bro. Tansell’s.
