Young Women Awards

For over one hundred years, the Young Women organization has produced tangible tokens of membership and achievement, usually in the form of jewelry. This appendix provides an extensive list, with selected images, of the awards and associated jewelry or emblems given in the Young Women programs. The lists are given in chronological order. Descriptions of earlier awards may represent their use in only the United States; international organizations sometimes adopted different names and requirements for their awards. Silver and gold in the descriptions refer to color, not necessarily to material (though some pieces were solid gold or sterling silver). Gemstones were not typically authentic. Some jewelry pieces became temporarily unavailable during World War II because of metal shortages.
