Elijah Larkin was born 20 April 1829 in Cambridge, England. He worked for a time as a private detective for Queen Victoria. After joining the church in England, he moved to Ogden, Utah Territory, in 1863. For several years he served as Brigham Young’s aide-de-camp. He then worked as a watchman for the Utah Central Railway. In the Tooele, Utah, area, he worked for twenty years in the horticultural business and served as a first counselor in the bishopric of the St. John’s Ward. Larkin was married to Sarah Parfey in 1847 and married Ruth Coe as a plural wife in 1863. He died in Tooele on 4 January 1905.[1]
