1 Born at Hannibel, Oswego County, New York; daughter of Jane Ruth Freeman and Ezra Ferris Barker. 2 Physician and surgeon. Graduated from Woman’s Medical College of Pennsylvania, 1873. 3 Opened an obstetrics school for women in Salt Lake City, 1873. 4 Member of the Women’s Centennial Executive Committee for Utah. 5 Married George Clinton Bates at Salt Lake City, 1876. 6 Moved to Colorado, circa 1876–1877. 7 Died at Denver. 8 (See Document 3.23, 3.28)
