Joseph Horne

1812 — 1897

Born in London, England; immigrated with his family to Upper Canada, where he was baptized in 1836; resided in Far West, Missouri; and Nauvoo, Illinois; immigrated to Salt Lake Valley in 1847 in same company with GQC; obtained property in Salt Lake City a block south of GQC’s in Fourteenth Ward; outfitted William Farrer for California gold fields; helped settle the southern Utah settlement of Parowan in 1851; called to serve as counselor in Fourteenth Ward bishopric in 1852; associated with the sugar mill southeast of the city; worked on the Salt Lake Temple.
