Amasa Mason Lyman

1813 — 1877

Born in Lyman Township, New Hampshire; baptized in 1832; gathered with the Latter-day Saints in Kirtland, Ohio, and in Missouri; ordained an apostle while residing in Nauvoo, Illinois, in 1842; member of vanguard pioneer company that entered Salt Lake Valley with Brigham Young in 1847; called on mission to California in 1849; in the gold fields the same time as GQC; led company of Latter-day Saints that settled San Bernardino, California, in 1851; returned to Utah in 1857; served mission to England, 1860–62; excommunicated in 1870 for teaching false doctrine; died in Fillmore, Utah.
