Robert Wallace McLean was born to John McLean and Janet McCall on 6 May 1833 in Dalrymple, Ayrshire, Scotland. He married Mary Agnes Frew on 5 December 1851 in Scotland. They had eleven children. Between 1882 and 1885, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in Tooele, Utah Territory. McLean was a coal miner. He died in Tooele on 19 November 1898.^[1]
