John Bray Marsden was born on 24 June 1850 in Old Holland, Rotherham, England, to John Marsden and Elizabeth Bray. He moved with his family to Tooele, Utah Territory, in 1862. A musician, Marsden married Sarah Gillett on 14 October 1872. He was active in civic duties, serving as a Tooele city councilman and marshal. He also worked in the freighting business and sold implements for the Studebaker Company. Marsden died on 22 January 1917 in Tooele.[1]
