James A. Woods was born 13 September 1839 to James Woods and Harriet Hart in Surrey Chertsey, England. In 1859 he moved to Utah Territory with his sister Caroline. He married Harriet Fanny Crosweller on 5 May 1864 and Charlotte Woods in 1870. He moved to Tooele County, Utah Territory, in 1877. Woods owned a farm in Batesville (Erda), Utah Territory, and had a nursery. He served as clerk of the Batesville Ward. He died on 4 May 1897 in Erda.[1]
