Alonzo Jerome Stookey was born on 14 July 1861 to Enos Stookey and Jemima Elizabeth Child in Clover, Utah Territory. He graduated from the University of Deseret in mathematics and became a schoolteacher in Tooele, Utah Territory, serving as the principal of schools in Tooele for four years and principal in Grantsville for seven years. He later became a civil engineer and rancher. He married Fannie Ajax on 2 January 1890, and they had ten children. Stookey died on 26 September 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah, and was buried in Clover.[1]
